U19's friendly ends in a draw
St. Nessan's u19's soccer team took on Colaiste Chiarain from Croom in a friendly at LIT on the 1st of March. The match was evenly contested, with both sides leading at various stages. Colaiste Chairain were first to score straight after halftime to go into a 1 - 0 lead. Nessan's responded by equalising through a cooly taken strike by Jason O Callaghan from the edge of the area after the ball broke loose to him following a tussle in the Croom box. Nessan's kept up the pressure and Ross Bowen blasted home from 10 yards on the half volley after a lovely floated cross from Daniel McInerney to give Nessan's the lead. Croom then came back into the game once more and equalised with 15 minutes left on the clock.
Just as the game seemed to be heading for a 2 -2 draw, Ross Bowen showed his instinct for goal when he swirled and shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner of the Croom net to put Nessan's ahead 3 - 2 on 90 minutes. However, in a game that was end to end, Croom attacked from the restart and manged to equalise in injury time before the referee called a halt to a very entertaining game of soccer.
